On November 19, 2025, UIC GPPA Medicine student Ruth Mathew received the Highest Distinction Award from the UIC Honors College for her capstone poster presentation,
“Cardiomyocyte-Specific WWOX Deficiency Protects Chronic Heart Failure,” authored by Mathew R., Isbatan A., Lee S.M., Sawar A., McCauley M., Aldaz M., Chen J.W. The work was presented at the UIC Honors College Research Symposium and recognized for its scientific contribution.
